About
Welcome, I’m Karen Boden.
I’m a writer and researcher with a deep focus on women, creativity, and how lives evolve across long seasons of work and change. My Ph.D. is in Higher Education, where I studied how innovation unfolds over time — a lens that continues to shape how I think about growth, identity, and becoming.
After navigating the transition into retirement more than once myself, I became especially interested in what happens when a long professional chapter closes and new questions begin to surface: Who am I when work no longer structures my days? What still wants expression? How do I design a life that feels coherent, spacious, and meaningful?
That curiosity — grounded in both research and lived experience — became The Liminal Season.
A few things that continue to shape how I move through the world:
🌍 Wanderlust runs deep — I’ve explored China, India, Kazakhstan, Tanzania, Kenya, Ecuador, Europe, and much of the U.S.
📚 Lifelong reader — I love a sharp mind and a good story, from Jane Austen’s wit to Michael Connelly’s grit.
🍽️ Hospitality — I find deep joy in gathering people, good conversation, and shared tables.
More than anything, I care about creating thoughtful spaces where women can reflect honestly, ask better questions, and move into their next season with clarity and courage.
I’m glad you’re here.
